About Us: All Holo-Krome products are Made in the USA and used
in a wide variety of market applications which demand high quality,
high strength precision components. Since its formation in 1929,
Holo-Krome has been at the forefront of fastener development and
innovation. In 1930, Holo-Krome invented and later patented the first
practical cold heading process for mass producing high tensile strength
alloy steel socket screws. As you browse through our catalog, you will
see Holo-Krome manufactures and stocks a full line of standard, high
quality socket screw products. In addition to the standard product
line, Holo-Krome manufactures semi-standards, special fasteners and
cold headed parts.
Product Number Code: All standard products have an assigned
Product Number Code shown on the boxes for ease in ordering and
inventory control. All products are sold in full packages only.
Special Products: Products not in the catalog can be quoted on
request. Blueprints and specifications should accompany your request.
Shipments: Holo-Krome will attempt to ship in accordance with your
instructions and by carrier of your choice. However, final selection for
method of shipment and carrier will be at our sole discretion.
Certifications: On request, using a lot number stamped on the outside

Allowance - An intentional difference in the dimensions of mating parts. It is the minimum clearance of the maximum
interference which is intended between mating parts. It represents the condition of the tightest permissible fit, or the largest
internal member mated with the smallest external member.
Examples:
A 1/2-13 American National Coarse Thread.
Minimum pitch diameter of nut (2B). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 0.4500
Maximum pitch diameter of screw (2A) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .4485
Allowance (positive). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 0.0015
Basic Size - The theoretical or nominal standard size from which all variations are made.
Crest Clearance - Defined on a screw form as the
space between the crest of a thread and the root of its mating part.
Finish - The character of the surface on a screw thread or other product.
Fit - The relation between two mating parts with
reference to the conditions of a assembly. For example: Wrench fit; close fit; medium fit; free fit; loose fit. The quality of fit is
dependent upon both the relative size and the quality of finish of the mating parts.
Neutral Zone - A positive allowance (See “Allowance.”)
Limits - The extreme permissible dimensions of a part.
Example :
1/2-13, Class 3A, American National Coarse Thread Series.
The limits are:
Maximum pitch diameter (3A) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 0.4500
Minimum pitch diameter (3A) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 0.4463
Manufacturing parts with unusual contour, strength and cost requirements
often becomes uneconomical as material, labor and energy costs escalate.
For many companies, HOLO-KROME® has become the economic design
and manufacturing alternative. The key is metal forming versus metal
removal. We have over 80 years of applied technology experience
in forming metal solutions. For us, tough parts take shape just a
little easier.
Made in the USA products are used in a wide variety of market applications
that demand high-quality, high-strength precision components. In addition
to the standard product line of cap screws, socket shoulder bolts, dowel pins,
socket jam screws, and socket pipe plugs, HOLO-KROME also manufactures
semi-standards, specialty parts and cold-headed parts.
With emphasis on lower cost and higher productivity, more companies are
looking to HOLO-KROME to solve assembly and "tough-to-manufacture"
part problems. If there is a length, material, coating or other criteria you
don't find on our website or in our catalog, we will supply a quotation.
Do you require screw machine parts that have:
• Two or more outside diameters?
• A recess or bore up to 2x diameter in depth?
• A requirement for special material?
Warm or cold heading may be a practical alternative. Shaping metal by
controlled warm or cold forming yields inherently stronger parts. Material
structure is controlled in ciritical stress reas, eliminating the possibility of
tears that are so common with machined parts.
HOLO-KROME can shape various types of material - aluminum and
brasses, austenitic and martensitic stainless, 4000 series alloy steels, all
the way through H-11 and other tool steels - into difficult dimensions
while retaining the metallurgically important property of grain flow.
Tough-to-manufacture parts can be produced at less cost than traditional
methods. With little or no metal removal, savings in material normally
justifies HOLO-KROME's heading process. Our vertically integrated
manufacturing process encompasses many innovative secondary and
finishing operations such as high-speed/proprietary machining, full
capability contour grinding, and precision roll threading up to 2" diameter.
Our finishing operations include a controlled-heat treating department.
Most high-strength alloy parts are automatically conveyed through
furnaces to ensure that specified metallurgical properties are achieved.
